About Yum Bakery

Yum Bakery in Mermaid Beach, Queensland, is a cake-focused bakery, and the people who use it come for the custom work. Birthday cakes, wedding cakes and cupcakes are what get talked about, with plenty of praise for the detail in the decorating and for how carefully orders are packed for the trip home.

Sending through photos of what you have in mind is a common way to order, and locals say the team is quick to respond and easy to work with. Pickup only from the Mermaid Beach shop, so plan your collection rather than expecting delivery.

Regulars mention welcoming staff and fair prices for the quality and size of what they walk out with. Cheesecake gets a mention, and so do the gluten free and dairy free cupcakes, which one parent says are hard to find elsewhere for a child with allergies. The business is women-owned, and there's coffee on hand, a free car park and the usual card and mobile payments.

If you're after something specific for an occasion, it's worth following them on Instagram, where availability is posted early in the day. Check the hours before you head in, as the shop closes early in the afternoon.
