Why Choose Bread Basket?

Bread Basket delivers across the board, pies with tender, flavourful fillings and crisp pastry, sourdough and specialty breads baked fresh daily, and custom cakes that nail specific requests. The team is attentive and friendly, and the bakery offers dine-in and takeaway, so you can eat on-site or take something home for later.

About Bread Basket

Bread Basket is a family-owned bakery in Kurri Kurri, and the family's four generations of baking experience shows in what comes out of the oven. The tagline is "Born to Bake", and the pies are often mentioned. One local called them the best in Kurri Kurri and the whole Hunter Valley. A chunky pepper steak pie gets plenty of love, as do the cheese and bacon pie and the mashed potato and potato-and-cheese sausage rolls.

Bread is the other big draw. They bake fresh sourdough daily, and we've heard good things about the mixed grain loaf and a light poppyseed pumpkin bread. Beyond the loaves, the sandwiches and rolls get a mention too, with a silverside salad roll and a chicken mayo and cheese both singled out as worth ordering.

Custom cakes are a real strength here. People describe ordering a dark chocolate cake that came out intense, moist and not too sweet, and the sponge, mud and butter cake options come in a few flavours to choose from. Cake in the cabinet gets a nod as well, including a caramel cheesecake with a good biscuit base.

The team gets warm words too. Staff are described again and again as friendly, welcoming and attentive, whether you're picking up a loaf or placing a cake order. One local did call it a touch pricey, though nothing out of line.

You can sit in with a coffee and breakfast, or grab takeaway. They also do delivery and catering platters, and supply wholesale to cafes and restaurants across the Hunter Valley. Card and tap payments are accepted, and there's free street parking and a free car park nearby. Check the hours before you head in, as they open early on weekdays and keep shorter weekend trading.
