Why Choose Gusto Food?
Gusto Food is a brunch destination in South Perth where the homemade crumpets and big fry-up keep locals coming back, backed by consistent praise for fresh ingredients and generous portions. The welcoming staff and quality coffee make it worth the queue on busy mornings, and they cater to gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan diets.
About Gusto Food
Gusto Food is a cafe in South Perth that locals treat as a proper brunch destination, with some baking on the side. Their coffee and tea are locally sourced, and the counter carries freshly baked pastries and homemade treats. Breakfast, brunch and lunch are the main event, and dessert is on offer too.
The food is what people keep raving about. The homemade crumpets are the one dish that comes up more than any other, and regulars will steer you towards them. The eggs benedict with pulled pork and spinach is another favourite, the portions are generous, and a big fry-up has been called one of the best breakfasts one local has had, partly because the bread is crisp on the outside and properly soft in the middle rather than a hacked-through crust. Cinnamon milk toast, hash browns and a pulled pork panini round out what people talk about, and there's often something new on the specials board, a halloumi salad being one recent crowd-pleaser.
On the drinks side, we hear the flat whites and long blacks are smooth and rich without any bitterness. The odd person has found the chai a touch watery, and one local found their coffee a little too hot, but the coffee itself gets plenty of love.
It's a cosy spot with seating inside and out, and the footpath tables are popular. Staff are friendly and the service is quick. Weekends can bring a short wait for a table, though people say it moves along, and one local mentions they handed out donuts to the waiting crowd. Street parking nearby makes it easy to find. There was a queue at the counter on one busy morning while the system played up, so a little patience may be needed at peak times.
For vegetarians and vegans there are options, and gluten-free choices are available too. You can dine in, take away, grab kerbside pickup, or have it delivered with no-contact drop-off. They're closed one day a week, so check the hours before heading out.

What Customers Say on Google
“The fry up may have been the best big breakfast I've ever had. All the ingredients were high quality and delicious. The bread is also a great choice as normally in a big breakfast i have to hack off a thick layer of rock hard sour dough crust, but this was a thin crisp layer on the outside and really tasty bread in the middle.”
“Staff are friendly and service is fast. Must have visited 50+ times now over the years and loved every meal (esp. the crumpets!).”
“Make sure to fast before heading to Gusto Food because their servings are huge.”
