Pies are the thing here. The bolognese pie gets a lot of love, and one local called it unlike any pie they'd had before. The wagyu mushroom pie is another favourite, buttery and flaky, though one person found it a touch dry, so it may come down to taste. Lode has been making and baking since 2021, and the Chatswood shop is a welcome addition for fans of the original.

On the pastry side, the pistachio croissant is the one people keep naming, with its pistachio cream, chocolate and berry. We've also heard good things about the cinnamon scrolls, the almond croissant, the yuzu pastry and a spinach and goat cheese option, though not every pick lands for everyone.
