Fiore Bread

Fiore Bread is a sourdough bakery and cafe in McMahons Point, and it's the kind of place locals treat as part of the weekly routine. Ask around and you'll hear the same thing: the bread comes out fresh, the staff are warm, and it feels like a proper village bakery.

Sourdough is the heart of it. People talk about the emmer seeded loaf and the wholemeal fruit and nut loaf, and the small seeded rolls and buns get plenty of love too. The panini and rolls are a popular order, where you choose your own fillings and they build it for you. They're on the smaller side, so think light lunch or snack rather than a big feed. Focaccia, brioche buns, spiga bread sticks and porchetta also come up, and the brioche with mascarpone has its fans. On the sweet side, locals mention pastries and cakes that aren't too sweet, including an Armenian walnut cake and flavours like thyme and chamomile. One local was glad to get a first batch of hot cross buns still warm from the oven, and has already put in an Easter order.

It's a relaxed spot to sit in or take away. You can grab a coffee or breakfast, eat in, or pick up bread to go. Custom cake orders and catering are also available, and there's wheelchair-accessible seating, free street parking nearby, and all the usual card and mobile payment options. Seating outside suits the easygoing feel, and it does get busy, especially on weekends, so give yourself a little time.

We've also heard the odd note that the coffee can come out cooler than some would like, and one regular wishes the signage were easier to spot, so keep an eye out when you're walking down Blues Point Road. Opening hours vary through the week and the bakery closes one day, so check the hours before you head in.
