Everything is baked fresh daily by Italian pastry chefs, and the range covers breads, cakes, pastries and a big counter of savoury items. It's the kind of bakery where a queue at the till first thing in the morning is a normal sight.

The cannoli are the thing locals mention first, filled fresh and often ordered in bulk for birthdays. One bride went with a cannoli cake in place of a traditional wedding cake, and the bakery even rang afterwards to offer a different ribbon colour for the day. The ciambelle and limoncello donuts get plenty of love too, and anyone after a cheesecake or a lemon yoghurt cake will find those on offer.

On the savoury side, Gerbino's is known for its pies. The steak pie and the chilli beef pie both get a mention, along with spinach and cheese arancini, a mushroom-stuffed version, sausage rolls, spanakopita and a mortadella sandwich that one local called simple, fresh and full of flavour. The bread comes out fresh and is praised by people who grew up on the real thing.

Gluten-free and dairy-free options are available, including a gluten-free chocolate cake that a private chef said was the best she had ever portioned and served. A pear and almond cake is another option, though one customer found it slightly dry. Custom cakes can be ordered ahead, and catering is on the menu as well.
