About Trivelli Cake Shop

Trivelli Cake Shop is a small, lively Italian sweets spot in Coburg, Victoria. Italian cakes, biscuits and pastries fill the display case, and cannoli (pistachio cannoli in particular), donuts, custard tart and a lemon cheesecake slice all get a mention when locals talk about what to order.

This is a place that suits a slow coffee. Regulars like that the coffee comes the old-fashioned way, with a biscuit alongside, and the staff have a reputation for being friendly. If you speak Italian, you can chat to the person serving you in it. One local who has been coming for years now brings his sons, and it's a small, buzzing room where you can still have a proper conversation. Baked goods come fresh from the oven, and there are a few savoury bites too, like pizza slices, paninis and sausage rolls.

It's worth knowing what kind of bakery this is. It's a sweets-first shop, so if you're after a standard meat pie, people will tell you to look elsewhere. For the sweet side, we hear the apple slice, the baked lemon cheesecake and the pistachio cream pastry are well made. Custom cakes are a big part of the trade, and some locals order cakes and pizzas here for family functions.

One person found the cakes pricey with uneven quality, and there have been grumbles about getting a response by phone or email on larger orders, so if you're planning a custom cake or a special-occasion order, pop in and confirm the details in person well ahead of time. Ask about ingredients too if you have a particular cake in mind, such as the type of cheesecake.

Beyond dine-in, they do takeaway and delivery, and there's a free car park, which makes a quick pick-up easy. Cards and tap payments are accepted. Check the hours before you head in, especially on weekends.
